"The first right of the human person is his life... [It is] the
condition of all the others. Hence it must be protected
above all others. It does not belong to society, nor does it
belong to public authority in any form to recognize this
right for some and not for others. It is not recognition
by another that constitutes this right. This right is
antecedent to its recognition; it demands
recognition and it is strictly unjust to refuse it."

~ Declaration on Procured Abortion, Sacred Congregation
of the Doctrine of the Faith, 1974, n. 11

New insurance plans could lead to the death of thousands of preborn babies.

The government is proposing a new, optional insurance system for the treatment of infertility. This system includes coverage for IVF - which kills or freezes even more preborn children than abortion. Infertility can be a heartbreaking experience for many couples and they deserve both pastoral and medical support, but IVF is not the solution.

There is a chance IVF could be removed from the proposal, while keeping the opportunity for improved coverage of real health care that aims to heal the underlying, root causes of couples’ infertility.

Please join the USCCB in taking action and sending a message by the government’s public comment deadline of Monday, July 13.

Messages in your own words can be more effective. Consider customizing the prepared message with your own views and story.
